7 Fantastic Excerpts From Megyn Kelly’s Autobiography, ‘Settle For More’

“My hands is questioning if I’m Bach or not / If I’m 2Pac or nonexistent to these juggernauts / But I’m an architect, an astronaut, an Argonaut.”
Chance the Rapper

On Wednesday, National Public Radio’s Terry Gross interviewed Megyn Kelly about her kellycareer, life, and autobiography, Settle for More. They covered several issues she is currently dealing with, including the alt-right’s attack through posting fake one-star reviews of her book on Amazon. As someone who has been trolled, had their identity impersonated, and attacked on various platforms by members who use the alt-right comment boards, I was particularly interested in Kelly’s story and response to them.

This week, I had the opportunity to review her book. It was an illuminating first-person perspective on her career progression from law student to the desk anchor of her own news program, The Kelly File.

Natasha Bowman On Workplace Bullying, Personal Branding, And Her Upcoming Book

“Turn your face towards the sun / Let the shadows fall behind you / Don’t look back, just carry on / And the shadows will never find you.”Rihanna

Earlier this month, Natasha Bowman delivered a presentation, at the Employment Law and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., titled Equal Opportunity Bullying: How Even Lawful Behavior Can Put Your Organization at Legal Risk.

Bowman founded Performance ReNEW last year with the mission of developing the next generation of organizational leaders. Here is a (lightly edited and condensed) write-up of my conversation with Natasha Bowman:

Natasha Brown (NB): When presented with my options for enrollment and scholarship opportunities, I chose the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville due to its close proximity to the home office of Walmart Stores Inc. Because I was still determining whether or not I would use my JD to practice labor and employment law or as a tool to continue my career in HR, I thought if I could land an opportunity with Walmart while in law school, I could be exposed to both sides.

Last week, the Lebanon-born and U.K.-raised barrister Amal Clooney held her first speaking engagement in the United States. Although it was her first official speaking engagement here, she has spent a significant amount of time in America. She obtained her LLM from NYU School of Law, interned for then-Judge Sonia Sotomayor at the Second Circuit, worked for a couple years at Sullivan & Cromwell (on the infamous Enron case, among other matters), and spent last spring as a visiting professor at Columbia Law School.

After practicing law internationally at the highest levels for the past fifteen years, Clooney made her first-ever visit to Dallas to speak at a sold-out event, which raised more than $1 million to combat international human trafficking. Even though her list of feats is rather impressive, she still feels like she has quite a bit more to accomplish. So what can we learn from the famed human rights lawyer’s most recent speaking engagement?
